In the past the Abbaye de Salaz was a diversified farm. As well as
cereals, apple and berry specialities were cultivated on the 40
surrounding hectares. Moreover there were milking cows who went up on
the mountain pasture during the summer season.

For many years our vineyard was a beautiful sight. Its maintenance
has required much manpower up to 20 people busy working at the
Abbaye de Salaz.
When people of the land started to move out in the towns to work in
other sectors, we had to simplify the structure of the farm and
specialize in fewer crops. Thanks to the mechanization and the work
of the vineyard’s soil we are now able to run the farm with the
only members of the family.
