The
Abbaye de Salaz estate is situated at the bottom of the swiss Alps,
near Montreux. Our origins date back to the VI century.
In the year 1017, Rudolf the IIIrd , king of
Burgundy, offered the estate to the Abbaye of St. Maurice. The monks
worked on the estate for over 800 years. After the Sonderbund’s
battle, the monastery of St. Maurice was deep in debt and was
compelled to sell the Abbaye the Salaz with its vineyard and land.
Afterward different private families owned the estate.
